Credit for these photos goes to Hattie Fox as I was sold a dodgy disposable camera by some cowboy Spaniard in a corner shop.
My Barcelona trip breakdown:
1) Club Mirablau
(view over Barcelona from the amazing rooftop terrace)
2) Casa Gracia
The brilliant hostel I stayed in. Great bar, great chilling out/lounge area, great location and most of all GREAT price. The rooms were really nice too, a lot better than I expected from a hostel.
3) Las Ramblas
The most famous street (or streets) in Barcelona. Packed with tourists, street entertainers but hailed as the most beautiful street in Barcelona by many. Well worth a visit.
La Boquería - the amazing food market right off Las Ramblas. Could have spent all day in there...
4) The Gothic Quarter
La Catedral
Home from home! Barcelona's Manchester Bar. Insides are plastered with posters of artists from Manchester and only their songs are played.
5) The Water Front & Quay
Opium - the super posh club smack bang on the water front. I was lucky enough to have free entry as part of the bar crawl I had paid to be on but I was told that the normal entry charge was 20 euros!
6) La Playa
This was taken when I went in January and it was 28 degrees C. Yes. January.
7) La Sagrada Família
I think it's safe to say it's worth going inside. Not due to be finished being constructed until 2020!
*I recommend, top 5*:
1) Don't take the subway - Barcelona is relatively small compared to, say, London. Walk around, stretch your legs, get lost, procure a map, get lost again.
2) Even though it may feel like you are buying the whole cathedral what with the price of the entry (especially if you go up the tower) GO INSIDE the Sagrada Família. SO worth it and this is coming from a cash strapped student.
3) Don't head for the massive clubs (Opium was almost as impressive as the 20 euros entry charge), head to the Gothic quarter for a more unique night out. Tiny alley ways, bars and clubs you will never EVER find again and a bar dedicated to Manchester...
4) Having said that, Club Mirablau is INCREÍBLE. A little bit out of the main city on top of a hill but just looking at the view at night over Barcelona made me feel as drunk as any numerous amount of jugs of Sangría. However, as with all of Barcelona's night life, don't arrive before 1am. That's just uncool.
5.) Take your time walking along the beach and quay front. The beach is beautiful and the quay side is reminiscent of London's south bank with entertainers, musicians and artists.
On another note, I realise that in Barcelona the main language spoken is Catalan, however from my experience they all seemed to understand normal Spanish and so I've collected a few extremely useful phrases:
